In traditional Japanese aesthetics, WABI-SABI is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature.
To honour this beautiful notion, I have created a collection of raw edge canvas pieces inspired by my sold out Zodiac collection. I have always admired the rough fluidity of nature and the blend of imperfect perfection.
I originally created raw edge canvas paintings as a unique and diverse way to display art in the home. This collection elaborates even further on this concept with my hand crafted Tasmanian Oak hangers. These hangers are my adaptation of the popular style of yarn wall hangings. This collection is my proudest yet, as I have not seen anything like it before. It is my concept, creation and expression entirely.
The raw, uneven nature of the canvas pieces are met in harmony with the natural colour palettes and tones I always use. Combining this with the depth that abstract art creates, this collection is a diverse and touching expression of nature and life.
